Red Cross “Red Hot Challenge” is May 20th

The Turks and Caicos Islands Red Cross (TCIRC) is set to host its highly anticipated Red Hot Challenge fun sporting event on May 20, 2023, at the National Stadium on Providenciales. The event, which saw over 15 teams battle it out for the top title last year, is once again inviting the TCI community and businesses to join in on the competitive fun and a chance to win trophies, medals, and a year of bragging rights. Speaking on the event, TCI Red Cross Director Candianne Williams said that she is excited about the second annual Red Hot Challenge event and she is looking forward to having more team participation for this year’s event.”If your team is up for the challenge, then we encourage you to join us for an all-day fun-filled festival of sporting events ranging from non-athletic to athletic,” she said. The event will feature a total of 20 events: 10 non-athletic games and 10 athletic competitions. Competition games will include spoon relay races, egg tosses, water balloon tosses, sprint races, tug-of-war, arm wrestling, soccer kicks, and so much more. This year’s activities will include an exciting Athlete Boost Raffle, in which teams can enter a raffle to win a professional athlete to be a part of their team. The athlete’s picks will include former Olympians, CARIFA, and Pan American Games champions. The prices of the tickets are varied and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Karen Whitt of Hartling Group, who is one of the individuals behind the event and serves as Chair of the Fundraising Committee for the TCIRC, stated that while the event is called the Red Hot Corporate Challenge, it is open to individuals as well.”This is open to the public and various communities. It is not only for corporate, but if individuals want to come together and create teams,” Whitt explained. “We depend on the generosity of individuals and businesses for support in making this event a success, so we encourage the corporate community to sign up for the games and encourage employees and colleagues to join in on the fun too.”The event is slated to take place on Saturday, May 20th, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. T-shirts will be provided to registered team members. The entry fee is $1,000 per team, and each team is allowed a maximum of 10 persons.  There will also be a $5 general admission fee for attendees, and free admission for children 12 years and under (children must be accompanied by an adult). The funds raised will support our humanitarian work in disaster preparedness, relief, and recovery.
